Hangover III (18+) – starring Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, directed by Todd Phillips
There’s no wedding this time or wild bachelor party either, but these pals don’t need any excuse to get into trouble.
Alan’s (Galifianakis) father dies and he feels responsible. Alan’s friends – Phil (Cooper), Stu (Helms) and Doug (Justin Bartha) – take him to the hospital to get his psychological problems treated. But Doug gets kidnapped and the gang must figure out a way to get him back safely.
The four friends, known as the Wolfpack, go on an adventure involving ruthless gangsters, gold bars and even a decapitated giraffe. They are threatened by a mobster (John Goodman) and need to track down Mr Chow (Ken Jeong) and bring back the goods that he stole.
The characters go through obligatory humiliation and are pecked by chickens, arrested by Mexican police and are left hanging off a hotel façade. There are a few funny moments during the series of chases through Mexico and Las Vegas, but the set design is impressive even if the gags are mediocre at times.
This is the third instalment of the Hangover franchise and we wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the last.
Hangover III hits the big screen on 30th May.
