Abu Dhabi Week went to the Sands Hotel to catch up with H2O, the house band at Tipar Bar.

Describe your band for those folk who haven’t seen you in action.

Our band adds a different flavour to every song that we cover. We play songs in a unique way.

How did you come together? And where did your members play before getting together for the Tipar nights?

H2O band members came from various parts of the Philippines. Basically from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, through recommendations, the members were chosen carefully. We have performed in Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah before finally coming to Abu Dhabi.

What are the crowds like at Tipar Bar?

Tipar is considered a party place, people come to listen to the great musical treat we provide and dance and enjoy the night.

What’s the song that gets the best response from the crowd?

Almost all of our tunes catch our audience’s attention and make them want to dance.

Do you have any new songs for 2013? 

We are excited to cover songs by Pink and Justine Timberlake and we are working on more Top 40 songs.

If you could play in front of anyone in the world who would it be?

We would really love to show our talent to Oprah Winfrey, because she is one of the most influential people in showbusiness.

Is there a performer you’d like to be more like? Do you get to see many other bands in the city? Do you ever get competitive?

We admire so many artists and our music is a blend of musical legends from the old days, from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s up to the present. During our days off, we find ourselves visiting other bars in order to feel how to be one of the crowd. We do not consider other bands as our rivals because we believe that we are unique in every way.

What do you like about Abu Dhabi as a place to perform?

Abu Dhabi is a great and fun place to perform, mainly because the people are very appreciative of what we perform on stage and they really make us want to show more of our talent on each and every night that we do our shows.
