Andor Attila

fiveminutes

Abu Dhabi Week caught up with Andor Attila, an artist and sculptor from Hungary who moved to the capital ten months ago to display his stunning and creative work.

So Andor, lets start at the beginning. When did you first start painting?

My first birthday! I have always painted and been creative. This was encouraged by my parents from a very young age.

Where have you painted before Abu Dhabi?

Hungary, Germany, New York, Hollywood, Sweden, Switzerland, London, Paris and Dubai. A lot of places! One day I really hope to go to Japan. And when I was in Sweden, I was selected from hundreds to paint a portrait of the Swedish Royal Family. That piece is now in the Stockholm Palace.

Who is your favourite artist?

[Giggling] I am my favourite artist!

Can you tell us where has some of your work been displayed, here in the capital?

Well about 18 months ago I had a display in the Emirates Palace, but more recently I have had an exhibition at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr. I have worked closely with the Art Squad. I am hoping to have another big exhibition soon, but the location is to be confirmed.

How would you describe your recent works?

I am inspired by realism and fantasy. The universe and energy play a big part in my paintings. I like to mix the old Arabic style of art with a modern style; the sunshine and the smell of flowers is what I hope to show with my colours.

And finally, what career would you have pursued if you weren’t an artist?

I would like to look after children who are sick and also help preserve nature. With my sister we’ve helped children with Leukaemia so I would like to do this again. But now, I am so happy as an artist.
