This year’s 42nd National Day could not only be a celebration of the country’s independence, but the setting of a Guinness World Record for the largest number of decorated cars in one place.

Yas Island will be transformed into an extravaganza of green, red, white and black on 2nd December, as thousands of cars decorated in the colours of the UAE national flag gather in order to celebrate the country’s National Day and attempt to set a new record.

The organisers predict over 3,000 cars will take part in the National Day Union Car Parade with more than 300 featuring in the Guinness World Record attempt.  The parade route will start at du Forum and cover more than 3.5 kilometres and Ashley Roberts, event director from dmg events Middle East, plans to utilise this celebration and have the capital recognised for it.

“We want to take that fun and excitement to a whole new level and put a global spotlight on Abu Dhabi as we attempt to do something truly unique. We can’t wait to see the results on 2nd December and encourage everyone to join in this one-of-a-kind challenge,” said Roberts.

Those wishing to take part in the world record attempt must decorate their car in the UAE colours on at least two sides of their vehicle; either the roof, the bonnet, the entire left or right hand side of the car, and each part of the decorated side of the car must be completely covered. Event organisers on the day will be inspecting vehicles to make sure they comply and can be entered.

Faisal Al Sheikh of TCA Abu Dhabi is feeling positive about the challenge. “We are confident that the people of the UAE, and our visitors, will all participate to help show case our national pride to the whole world with a record that will be very difficult to break!”
