Animal lovers will be treated to a variety of new entertaining, interactive and educational activities at the Al Ain Zoo this week, with the debut of new and improved facilities.

The recently refurbished areas will include new and upgraded exhibits and two new dining choices – the Flamingino Café and the Mixed African Café – for visitors. In addition, shaded walkways from the main entrance to the Cat House exhibit will ensure visitor comfort throughout the year. While special needs visitors and guests with strollers will benefit from the newly designed main gate.

The enhanced Mixed Asian Exhibit, one of the most popular offerings at the zoo, now includes three new gazelle species – the Chital, Nilgai and the Blackbuck. The fully upgraded Elezba has been transformed to the Children’s Zoo, where youngsters are encouraged to interact more with animals, including an aviary, tortoise and water pond. And the new Family Zone area will provide children with a space to enjoy a variety of activities.

Speaking of the announcement, Ghanim Al Hajeri, director general of Al Ain Zoo added the zoo is “committed to enhancing visitor experiences, providing services that will not only entertain but educate. Al Ain Zoo is home to a diverse collection of approximately 4,000 animals from all over the world, including many rare and endangered species and arid wildlife that are native to the UAE. Visitors can witness these animals interacting first-hand, and also learn about the importance of their conservation.”

The Al Ain Zoo is open daily from 9am to 8pm. For more information visit: www.awpr.ae
