- Modon joins a group of investors backing the upgrade of Wellington International and the creation of an ultra-luxury residential, hospitality and sports-led district in Wellington, Florida
- The investment broadens Modon’s global reach and strengthens knowledge-sharing across high-end mixed-use and lifestyle development projects
Modon Holding P.S.C (“Modon”), based in Abu Dhabi, has confirmed a strategic investment in Wellington Lifestyle Partners (“WLP”), becoming part of an established consortium of investors.
This investment will drive the evolution of Wellington International equestrian showgrounds and support the delivery of a landmark ultra-luxury development including high-end homes, a boutique hotel, a commercial district and a championship golf course in Wellington, Florida – a world-famous equestrian destination. It represents Modon’s first direct engagement in a US equestrian-led project and reinforces its commitment to partnering with leading global organisations across the ultra-luxury development landscape. The collaboration further elevates Modon’s position as an international investor in large-scale, high-value real estate and lifestyle initiatives.
Through the partnership, Modon joins WLP’s network of investors and operating partners to progress a diverse portfolio of lifestyle and sporting assets. These consist of the globally recognised Wellington International showgrounds; The Wanderers Club, a family-focused country club offering sports and dining; The Wellington, an exclusive residential club community of 253 luxury homes opening in 2028 and anchored by a championship golf course by David McLay Kidd; and a planned Marketplace featuring a boutique hotel, residences, retail, workspaces and dining experiences. Together, these projects support a long-term vision to enhance Wellington’s global leadership in equestrian sport and premium living.
The agreement includes a strategic licensing arrangement enabling Modon to adopt the Wellington International brand and intellectual property across select strategic markets for the creation of future community and lifestyle destinations. Modon will also assume a premier sponsorship role for the Winter Equestrian Festival and the Adequan® Global Dressage Festival (AGDF), two of the world’s most significant equestrian events drawing more than 250,000 attendees annually.
His Excellency Jassem Mohamed Bu Ataba Al Zaabi, Chairman of Modon Holding, said: “This strategic investment reflects Modon’s ambition to invest alongside world-class partners that share our vision for excellence in destination development. Wellington Lifestyle Partners represents a unique collaboration that brings together expertise in real estate, equestrian, hospitality and sports-led communities. By extending our reach to the United States, we are furthering Modon’s role in delivering sustainable destinations that embody quality, innovation and cultural connection.”
Bill O’Regan, Group Chief Executive Officer of Modon Holding, added: “Our partnership with Wellington Lifestyle Partners aligns with Modon’s strategy to develop integrated lifestyle destinations that combine community, sport and hospitality. Wellington International is recognised globally for its equestrian excellence, and this collaboration provides a valuable opportunity to exchange expertise in operations, master planning and design. It complements our portfolio across Hudayriyat Island, Ras El Hekma and La Zagaleta, reinforcing Modon’s commitment to delivering transformative, world-class destinations.”
WLP Founder Mark Bellissimo stated: “The addition of Modon Holding to Wellington Lifestyle Partners brings together an exceptional blend of expertise. With Modon’s world-class destination development experience, Doug McMahon and NEXUS’ leadership in luxury community development, and equestrian Murray Kessler as CEO of Wellington International, we are uniquely positioned to accelerate our vision to set a new standard of quality for an equestrian lifestyle destination here in Wellington.”
