Emirates Glass, a leading regional glass processing company and a subsidiary of Dubai Investments PJSC, has signed a five-year Manufacturing and Distribution Agreement with Australian firm ClearVue Technologies Limited (ASX:CPV) to introduce solar glazing solutions to the UAE and Gulf markets.

The collaboration will see Emirates Glass begin local production of ClearVue’s solar-integrated glass later this year. The technology, which generates electricity from sunlight while maintaining transparency and insulation performance, is being positioned as a breakthrough for energy-efficient construction in the Middle East.

Under the agreement, Emirates Glass will also hold non-exclusive distribution rights across the UAE and wider GCC. The deal marks a significant step in embedding renewable energy directly into building materials, a trend that is gaining momentum globally and particularly in sun-rich environments like the Gulf.

Blending design and renewable energy

ClearVue’s solar glazing, spandrel and cladding technology is designed for diverse uses, including façades, windows, skylights, canopies and even agricultural greenhouses. By integrating energy generation into glass surfaces, the solution allows buildings to harness natural light, reduce reliance on grid power, and maintain strict energy efficiency standards.

The company’s Integrated Solar Façade has been engineered to deliver on-site renewable energy generation while complying with demanding fire safety and performance requirements, particularly for high-rise developments.

“This technology combines sustainability with functionality,” said Rizwanulla Khan, Executive President of Emirates Glass. “As the construction sector evolves, the need for energy-efficient, high-performance building materials is more urgent than ever. This partnership reflects our commitment to sustainable innovation.”

A timely innovation for the UAE

The agreement arrives as the UAE continues to ramp up its clean energy agenda under the Net Zero by 2050 strategic initiative. The country has been investing heavily in renewable energy, from solar parks to hydrogen projects, and the introduction of solar glazing is seen as a natural extension of this push.

For architects and developers, the innovation offers both aesthetic and environmental advantages. By embedding power generation into façades and curtainwalls, projects can integrate renewable energy without sacrificing design flexibility or visual appeal.

Doug Hunt, Global CEO of ClearVue Technologies, said, “The UAE and GCC are ideal markets for our solar façade solutions, given the abundance of sunlight and the region’s sustainability ambitions. Partnering with Emirates Glass, a recognised industry leader, ensures our technology can be delivered at scale.”

Positioning for the future

The solar glazing partnership reinforces Emirates Glass’s role as an innovator in the regional glass sector while aligning Dubai Investments with emerging global sustainability trends. Industry analysts note that such technologies could become standard features in new developments as governments tighten green building codes and as investors increasingly demand climate-conscious construction.

With production set to begin within the year, the agreement is expected to make the UAE a regional hub for solar glazing technology, potentially transforming how the built environment contributes to clean energy generation.
