Lufthansa to relaunch Riyadh–Munich flights in winter 2025

Lufthansa will resume flights between Riyadh and Munich from 27 October 2025, adding a new non-stop service three times a week and increasing its capacity in Saudi Arabia by around 50%.

The route, last operated in 2017, will connect the Saudi capital to the German airline’s Munich hub in just over five hours. Flights will depart Riyadh on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 06:25, arriving in Munich at 10:25 local time. The return service will operate on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, departing at 21:45 and landing in Riyadh at 04:50 the following morning.

Modern aircraft and competitive fares

The service will be operated by a fuel-efficient Airbus A350-900, offering 293 seats across Business, Premium Economy and Economy cabins. Return fares start from SAR 1,495 in Economy Class.

Munich Airport — rated a five-star terminal by Skytrax — will provide Saudi travellers with onward connections to around 130 destinations, particularly in Europe, the Americas and Asia.

Part of wider regional expansion

The new route complements Lufthansa’s daily Riyadh–Frankfurt service and daily Dammam–Frankfurt flights, bringing the Lufthansa Group’s weekly total to Saudi Arabia to 25 services across its brands, including ITA Airways and Eurowings.

Sadiq Mohamed, Lufthansa Group Airlines’ General Manager Sales in Saudi Arabia, said Munich was “one of the most popular destinations in Western Europe” for the airline’s customers, offering both a gateway for connections and a base for leisure travel.

Growing demand

Lufthansa has served Saudi Arabia for 65 years and sees demand from Riyadh rising alongside the city’s growth and its role in hosting major events such as Expo 2030 and the FIFA Men’s World Cup 2034.

Munich, home to major companies including BMW, Siemens and Allianz, is also renowned for its cultural events, including Oktoberfest and its Christmas markets.
