Jazeera Airways has launched its first-ever direct flight from Kuwait to Sochi, Russia, marking a new milestone in the airline’s growing international network and opening a new travel corridor between the Gulf region and Russia’s scenic Black Sea coast.

The inaugural flight departed today from Jazeera Terminal 5 at Kuwait International Airport with a ceremonial send-off, celebrating the launch of a route that will now operate twice weekly. The new service adds to the carrier’s 13 existing weekly flights to Moscow Domodedovo Airport (DME), expanding its footprint in Russia and enhancing travel options for leisure and business travelers alike.

Sochi, known for its unique combination of coastline and mountain scenery, year-round tourism appeal, and status as a former Winter Olympics host city, becomes an attractive destination for Gulf travelers seeking new holiday experiences. The new route also positions Jazeera Airways as the first and only airline to offer a direct Kuwait–Sochi connection, enhancing its strategic importance in the regional aviation sector.

Speaking at the ceremony, Barathan Pasupathi, CEO of Jazeera Airways, said:

“We are proud to be the first and only airline offering a direct connection between Kuwait and Sochi. This route opens the door for travelers to explore one of Russia’s most attractive leisure destinations, while also enhancing connectivity across our growing network.”

The route is expected to bolster outbound tourism from Kuwait and neighboring countries to southern Russia, offering convenient access to Sochi’s beaches, mountain resorts, and cultural sites. Simultaneously, it opens a gateway for Russian travelers looking to connect through Kuwait to over 60 Jazeera Airways destinations across the Middle East, South Asia, and Europe. Popular onward destinations include Dubai, Riyadh, Delhi, Mumbai, Istanbul, and Cairo.

Travelers can now book flights via the Jazeera Airways website and mobile app, with initial interest expected to be strong due to the uniqueness of the route and the limited availability of direct flights between the Gulf and Russia’s southern resort cities.

The launch reflects Jazeera’s broader strategy of expanding its leisure destination portfolio and tapping into underserved travel corridors. It also underscores the airline’s commitment to regional connectivity and tourism development, as more Gulf carriers explore routes beyond traditional destinations.

With low-cost travel options, a modern fleet, and a dedicated terminal in Kuwait, Jazeera Airways continues to strengthen its position as a leading choice for travelers in the region. The new Sochi route is anticipated to contribute significantly to the airline’s passenger growth in the second half of 2025.
