Samsung appliances earn first TÜV Nord IoT certification

Samsung Electronics has secured its first IoT security certification for home appliances, as two series of robot vacuum cleaners and its Bespoke AI Refrigerators were recognised by TÜV Nord, a German-based global certification body.

The certified products include the Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam, Bespoke Jet Bot Combo and 2025 Bespoke AI Refrigerators. Samsung said the achievement highlights both its leadership in smart home technology and its commitment to data security.

“As the global focus on smart home security intensifies, Samsung continues to deliver robust protection through our Knox security platform,” said Jeong Seung Moon, Executive Vice President and Head of the R&D Team for Digital Appliances Business. “This certification validates the strength of our security technologies, and we will continue to enhance differentiated protection to safeguard customer data.”

Meeting international standards

TÜV Nord is recognised internationally as an IECEE-accredited National Certification Body. Its certification is based on ETSI EN 303 645, a standard set by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute covering security and privacy requirements across the lifecycle of consumer IoT devices.

Criteria include encryption, authentication, access control, secure software updates, personal data protection and vulnerability management.

The European Union is tightening regulations with updates to the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) and the upcoming Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). Samsung said achieving TÜV Nord certification demonstrates its readiness to comply with these evolving requirements.

Knox-powered security

Samsung has incorporated multiple layers of protection into its appliances using its Knox security platform. Key safeguards include firmware verification at startup to prevent unauthorised modifications, as well as encryption of all user commands and monitoring footage.

The latest Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam and Bespoke AI Refrigerators add further protection with Knox Matrix and Knox Vault. Knox Matrix enables devices to perform mutual security checks, alerting users to potential risks of data theft, while Knox Vault isolates sensitive data such as passwords on a dedicated hardware subsystem.

New launches

The Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam is set to be unveiled at IFA 2025 in September, while the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo and Bespoke AI Refrigerators are already being introduced in select markets.

Samsung said its continued investment in advanced security features was aimed at reinforcing consumer trust in connected devices and ensuring safe adoption of smart home technology worldwide.

The certification is the latest step in the company’s strategy to position its appliances not just as functional tools, but as secure, integrated hubs within the modern connected home.
