OMODA&JAECOO UAE hosted its first official JAECOO J8 SHS test drive at the Dubai Autodrome on 24 December. The on-track event marked an important stage in the brand’s UAE rollout of its Super Hybrid System technology.

The invite-only session included company staff, dealer partners, and more than 40 members of the regional media. Participants drove the JAECOO J8 SHS on the circuit and shared first-hand impressions based on live driving experience.

The day began with a technical presentation and track briefing. The session outlined the vehicle’s core features and explained how the Super Hybrid System operates across different driving conditions.

The JAECOO J8 SHS uses a third-generation plug-in hybrid system known as SHS-P. The setup delivers strong power output and torque, with performance levels similar to a large-capacity petrol engine, while supporting both urban use and off-road conditions.

Despite its size, the SUV reaches 100 km/h from a standstill in 5.8 seconds. This allows it to compete with faster vehicles in its class while retaining SUV practicality.

Drivers tested the vehicle during structured track sessions that focused on acceleration, cornering, and braking. A separate low-speed challenge assessed parking control and vehicle balance.

The hybrid system also supports extended driving range. With fuel and battery fully replenished, the JAECOO J8 SHS can travel over 1,300 kilometres. In electric mode, it can cover more than 169 kilometres, which suits typical city travel.

The system reduces the need for frequent charging by using the petrol engine to generate power for the electric drive. Fast charging allows the battery to move from 30% to 80% in 25 minutes.

Inside the cabin, the JAECOO J8 SHS offers premium materials and comfort features. These include NAPPA leather seats, multi-way electric adjustment, and built-in massage functions.

Safety systems include up to 10 airbags and 19 driver assistance features, designed to support everyday driving and longer journeys.

Shawn Xu, CEO of OMODA & JAECOO Automobile International, said:
“The JAECOO J8 SHS (Super Hybrid System) test drive at Dubai Autodrome demonstrates our confidence in the Super Hybrid System’s performance, technology, and real-world usability. From powerful acceleration and extended range to a premium cabin experience, the J8 SHS has been engineered to meet the expectations of UAE customers who demand both performance and luxury.”

The test drive event highlights the brand’s focus on direct evaluation and engagement as OMODA&JAECOO UAE continues to grow its footprint in the local market.
