OMODA&JAECOO has unveiled its new light off-road SUV, the JAECOO J5, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as part of a coordinated regional rollout.

The August 9 event, branded “JAECOO DAY”, marked the start of launches across Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, and the UAE. The Dubai debut is set for August 14 at the JAECOO showroom, where the UAE edition will be revealed with features tailored to local conditions and driving preferences.

Star power and tech highlights

The Riyadh event featured a surprise appearance by Kuwaiti singer and theatre director Bader Alshuaibi, named as JAECOO’s regional brand ambassador. Alongside the J5, the brand also showcased the JAECOO J8 and its Super Hybrid System (SHS), designed to deliver eco-conscious driving experiences.

UAE edition: made for urban explorers

The UAE-specific J5 will combine on-road comfort with light off-road capabilities, suiting the country’s mix of city streets, coastal roads, and desert terrain. It will offer technology features such as a 540° panoramic camera, three ARDIS driving modes, independent suspension, and lifestyle touches including a karaoke mode and rooftop camping setup.

Hybrid ambitions

JAECOO’s SHS is built around a 5th-generation 1.5TDGI engine, a dedicated hybrid transmission, and a high-performance battery, forming part of its regional new energy vehicle strategy.

The company says the Middle East expansion is supported by strong global momentum, including a place on the 2025 Fortune Global 500 and more than five million cumulative exports.

The UAE launch, the brand says, will cement its position as a new contender in the intelligent SUV segment, appealing to drivers ready to “Go Discover.”
