Deira Rooftops Offer Summer Coolers With a Local Twist

Two of Deira’s landmark hotels—Novotel Dubai Gold District and Mercure Dubai Deira—are shaking up Dubai’s hospitality scene this summer with the launch of their limited-edition beverage menus, combining chilled mocktails, bold cocktails, and flavourful bites inspired by local heritage.

Targeting both travellers and locals looking to escape the city’s sweltering heat, the rooftop and poolside venues are offering a distinctly Deira experience: cool sips with cultural depth, served alongside panoramic views of the historic Dubai Creek.

At Mercure Dubai Deira, the ATMOS Rooftop Lounge leads the initiative with its Sweet Summer Sips collection—crafted with regional ingredients and global flair. Standouts include the “Java Stone,” a punchy cocktail served in a terracotta cup with tequila, jalapeño brine, and coriander, and the visually striking “Serenity Proson,” a colour-shifting mix of blue pea tea, coconut water, and gin that evokes the sensation of a seaside breeze.

Complementing the drinks is a gourmet rooftop menu. Avocado Tattoo, featuring salmon tartare and black caviar, and the Artistic Trio Crostini are designed for the visual and culinary senses alike. Group diners can indulge in the Ocean Basket for Four, while sweet offerings like Watermelon Fries with Cream Cheese and Baked Alaska round off the rooftop indulgence.

Meanwhile, just minutes away, Aqua Pool Bar at Novotel Dubai Gold District offers a playful take on summer refreshment. Drinks like “Strawbrrreezy” and “Melon Mayhem” mix fruity vibrancy with rooftop fun, offering the perfect cooldown beside the pool. The bar’s menu includes inventive comfort foods like the Beef Ribs Poori—slow-cooked beef in an Indian poori shell—and Watermelon Pizza topped with berries and pomegranate molasses.

“It’s more than just a menu,” says a spokesperson for Mercure Dubai Deira. “It’s an invitation to discover Deira’s roots—through spice, colour, and creativity.”

The initiative is part of both hotels’ ongoing efforts to elevate Deira’s profile as more than a trading hub or old town stopover. With mocktails given equal billing to alcoholic beverages, and local ingredients taking centre stage, these offerings reflect a modern Deira—rooted in heritage, yet unafraid to play.

Running throughout the summer, the menus are available for a limited time only. Each venue—whether the laid-back Aqua Pool Bar or the atmospheric ATMOS Lounge—offers its own take on Dubai’s hospitality evolution, one sip at a time.

With views stretching across the creek and menus built for long, sun-drenched afternoons, this summer, Deira offers more than respite from the heat—it offers an experience.
