In a symbolic act of solidarity, Boursa Kuwait lit its building in blue to commemorate World Refugee Day, reaffirming its commitment to humanitarian causes and its ongoing partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

The initiative, now in its fifth consecutive year, reflects Boursa Kuwait’s strategic focus on corporate social responsibility (CSR) and aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year’s global theme, “Solidarity with Refugees,” urges both the international community and the private sector to demonstrate tangible support for forcibly displaced people.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Naser Al-Sanousi, Boursa Kuwait’s Senior Director of Marketing and Communication, said:

“Our participation in World Refugee Day reflects a firm belief in the role of the private sector in shaping positive and sustainable change. Through our strategic alliance with UNHCR, we are enabling real impact—helping refugee families meet essential needs like education, healthcare, and basic living expenses.”

Boursa Kuwait has extended its strategic partnership with UNHCR for another year. Since 2020, this collaboration has supported over 1,980 refugee families across the Middle East and North Africa. Most recently, in 2025, Boursa Kuwait backed UNHCR’s cash assistance and protection program, offering displaced individuals the resources to live with dignity and autonomy.

UNHCR Representative in Kuwait, Ms. Nisreen Rubaian, praised the initiative, stating:

“On World Refugee Day, we remind ourselves that solidarity is more than a gesture—it is a humanitarian obligation. We thank Boursa Kuwait for standing with us and, most importantly, with the people whose lives are marked by displacement and uncertainty. Their support, especially for unaccompanied children, sets a powerful example for the region.”

World Refugee Day is observed annually on June 20, and aims to highlight the resilience of refugees and the growing need for international collaboration as global displacement reaches record levels. The UNHCR continues to lead global efforts to protect refugees, advocating for their rights and promoting pathways to integration and safety.

Boursa Kuwait’s efforts form a key component of its Corporate Sustainability strategy, which prioritizes partnerships, financial literacy, women’s empowerment, and environmental stewardship. The company has aligned its initiatives with eight UN SDGs, including No Poverty, Good Health, Quality Education, and Partnerships for the Goals.

By blending sustainability with core operations, Boursa Kuwait seeks to embed CSR within its corporate culture, ensuring lasting impact and building strong alliances with local and international partners for a more inclusive future.

As the humanitarian landscape grows more complex, Boursa Kuwait’s enduring support for refugee communities sends a strong message: solidarity starts with action—and every act of support matters.
