Children in Africa are receiving a helping hand this Ramadan with the launch of a new initiative in the capital.

Marina Mall Abu Dhabi has announced the ‘Let Hope Shine’ campaign, which aims to improve lives and create opportunities for others around the world. The campaign’s first project, held in partnership with the Emirates Red Crescent, will help build a school in Ghana.

“We are pleased to announce the launch of our ‘Let Hope Shine’ initiative,” said Nadeem Wajahat, GM, Marina Mall. “We are passionate about helping those in need, especially during the Holy Month of Ramadan which is characterised by a strong spirit of giving and sharing.

“We are also honoured to partner with the Emirates Red Crescent on an important campaign that will help create further development in education in less privileged nations. We look forward to a successful campaign and wish everyone a blessed Ramadan.”

As part of the campaign, Marina Mall will host a series of activities and events for the community to highlight issues such as education, health and safety and sustainability.

The Ghanaian school is expected to take a year to build, opening its doors for the 2015-2016 academic year. The partner organisations also hope to continue supporting the school with educational supplies and other equipment once it opens.

Mall-goers can contribute to the campaign by purchasing vouchers from the mall’s main customer service counter from Wednesday to Saturday at 10am to 1pm and 8.30pm to 1.30am, Thursday from 10am to 1pm and 8.30pm to 2.30am and Friday from 8.30pm to 2.30am.
