Hospital gives life-changing Ramadan gift

A young boy has undergone a life-changing operation recently thanks to the efforts of an Al Ain resident.

Three-year-old Fadel Yousef, who suffers from a cleft lip and palate, received surgery in Kenya this Ramadan thanks to the efforts of Trey Hulsey and the Oasis Hospital in Al Ain.

Hulsey, a resident of the Garden City and chief community relations officer of Oasis Hospital was driving home and saw Fadel while he was playing and noticed his condition. After speaking with his Syrian father, Abbas, the story became clear as to why his son hadn’t received treatment.

Abbas had planned surgery for his son in his home country, but due to the civil war intensifying, the family was forced to leave where they first moved to Jordan and have now settled in the UAE.

Unfortunately, there is currently no specialist at the Oasis Hospital to carry out the surgery, but thanks to their sister hospital in Kenya, Fadel received the first half of his much-needed surgery and has returned to Al Ain.

The operation on the cleft lip has been complete, but Fadel needs to return for a second operation on his palate – a procedure that will cost AED 15,000, an operation his father cannot afford.
