Students from the Abu Dhabi Center for Care and Rehabilitation recently had the chance to explore the wonders of science, thanks to the ‘Lema?’ team from the Abu Dhabi Technology and Development Committee (TDC).
Over 100 Grade 3 to 5 students enjoyed the Body Builders show and the Lego Mindstorm NXT robotics workshop, two of the interactive events developed by the ‘Lema?’ team for Abu Dhabi schools.
The Body Builders Show is a funny and fast-paced introduction to the body’s main organs and skeleton. The Lego MindStorm NXT Challenge Workshop is a hands-on introduction that allows students to program their own robots.
“Everyone has something at which they excel,” said Neama Ahmed Al Marshoudi, Manager of Science and Technology Promotion at TDC. “Our programmes are designed to help students unleash their abilities and realise their true potential.”
‘Lema?’, which means ‘Why?’ in Arabic, aims to spark a love for science in the next generation as part of TDC’s broader remit to embed the benefits of science
and technology in everyday life in the Emirates.
For older students – grades 6 to 7 – there are two further activities, the Lego Mindstorms Advanced workshop and the Secret of Space show – which takes place in an portable inflatable planetarium.
