Beloved Turkish singer Güllü, known for her powerful voice and heartfelt performances that captivated audiences in the 1990s, has died in a tragic fall from her sixth-floor balcony in Yalova. She was widely remembered as one of the country’s most respected artists of her generation.

The accident occurred in the early hours of 26 September 2025. Authorities confirmed that an emergency call was made to the 112 Emergency Call Centre at 1:28 a.m., reporting a fall on Vali Akı Street in the Harmanlar district.

Medical teams rushed to the scene, but paramedics declared the singer dead at the site. Her body was later transferred to the Yalova Training and Research Hospital morgue.

Family Confirms Death, Rejects Suicide Claims

News of her passing was confirmed by her daughter in a social media post:

“We lost my mother, the renowned artist Güllü, in a terrible accident tonight. There is no truth to the suicide reports going around on social media. I will share details about the funeral soon.”

Her statement came after speculation on social media suggested self-harm. Both the Yalova Governor’s Office and the Narcık Police Department later issued statements confirming the case was being investigated as an accident, not a suicide.

According to police, Güllü was at home at the time with her daughter and a friend. The Public Prosecutor’s Office has ordered a full inquiry to determine the exact cause of the fall.

Career and Legacy

Born Gül Tut, Güllü rose to fame in the 1990s with a series of hit songs that showcased her emotive voice and commanding stage presence. She quickly became a household name, adored by fans across Turkey for her sincerity and artistry.

Her repertoire, often focused on themes of love, longing, and resilience, resonated deeply with audiences and secured her place as a defining voice of her era.

Colleagues and fans alike have paid tribute, remembering her as an artist of immense talent and warmth. “She was an amazing singer whose honesty and music changed people’s lives,” one fellow performer wrote online.

Funeral Arrangements Pending

Details of Güllü’s funeral will be announced by her family in the coming days. For now, Turkey mourns the loss of a musical icon whose songs continue to echo through the decades.
