Trend Micro launches AI model to predict cyber risks

Trend Micro has unveiled what it describes as the world’s first specialised large language model (LLM) for cybersecurity, marking a major shift in how organisations defend against escalating digital threats.

The new model, called Trend Cybertron, is designed to move enterprises away from reactive security towards proactive risk management. The company says the system draws on the industry’s most precise local risk assessments combined with more than 36 years of global threat intelligence to help anticipate and prevent attacks.

With governments, banks, and smart cities across the Middle East and Africa rapidly expanding their use of AI, securing digital infrastructure has become a regional priority. Trend Micro argues its innovation is especially timely, given that the average cyberattack in the region costs organisations an estimated $8.75m — nearly double the global average.

“Security teams are overwhelmed by rising alert volumes, fragmented infrastructures, and increasingly sophisticated threats,” said Bilal Baig, Regional Technical Director for Trend Micro in the Mediterranean Middle East and Africa.

“Trend Cybertron addresses these challenges by automating risk analysis and prioritising threats based on real-time intelligence, allowing security teams to focus on the most critical risks.”

The company claims Cybertron delivers remediation up to 99% faster than traditional approaches, offering end-to-end protection across email, networks, endpoints, identity systems, and cloud environments.

Unlike conventional LLMs, Cybertron is embedded within Trend Vision One™, the firm’s flagship security platform. This integration means the system not only analyses risks but also recommends actionable next steps, guiding teams to anticipate breaches and mitigate threats before they materialise.

The model uses what Trend Micro calls Agentic AI, a technology that combines automated reasoning with global intelligence datasets. This enables the system to adapt continuously, refining its responses to emerging cyber risks in real time.

Industry analysts say the launch highlights a growing trend of merging AI innovation with cybersecurity tools, as companies face pressure to combat increasingly complex attack vectors. By embedding predictive capabilities into its core platform, Trend Micro is positioning itself as a leader in AI-driven security solutions.

For enterprises in the Middle East and Africa, where digital transformation initiatives are accelerating, the stakes are particularly high. With attacks becoming more frequent and more expensive, proactive security could prove critical in safeguarding businesses and national infrastructures alike.

Trend Cybertron is now available globally, offering organisations a new approach to protecting their digital estates. Whether it becomes a benchmark for the wider industry will depend on how effectively it delivers on its promise to predict and prevent the next generation of cyberattacks.
