Kuwaiti carrier Jazeera Airways has officially resumed direct flights to the Saudi Arabian city of Abha, reinforcing air travel connectivity between Kuwait and the Kingdom. The airline will operate three weekly flights, marking a significant step in expanding its Saudi network to seven destinations.

The launch was commemorated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by senior representatives from both countries. Bandar Bin Aboud, Counselor at the Saudi Embassy in Kuwait, joined Barathan Pasupathi, CEO of Jazeera Airways, and Naser Fahad Alobaid, Chief Executive of Government Affairs at the airline, to inaugurate the renewed route.

“This expansion demonstrates our ongoing commitment to serving key cities across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” said Pasupathi. “We’re proud to offer greater travel convenience and help connect passengers to one of the most picturesque regions in the Kingdom.”

Nestled in the Asir Province in southwestern Saudi Arabia, Abha has gained prominence as a cultural and ecological treasure. Known for its cool mountain climate, dramatic landscapes, and traditional architecture, the city is increasingly drawing both domestic and international tourists. From the Asir National Park to the iconic Habala village, Abha offers a rare glimpse into Saudi Arabia’s rich heritage and natural diversity.

The reinstated route is expected to benefit not only leisure travelers but also families, business professionals, and pilgrims. The airline said that the flight timings have been structured to provide maximum convenience and connection opportunities with other destinations in its growing network.

This move also supports Saudi Vision 2030, the Kingdom’s national development strategy, which emphasizes tourism as a key pillar of economic diversification. Regional airlines like Jazeera Airways are playing an increasingly critical role in bridging Gulf countries with Saudi Arabia’s evolving tourist and commercial hubs.

Jazeera Airways continues to expand its footprint across the Middle East. With Abha now re-added, the airline’s Saudi destinations include Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Madinah, Hail, and Taif, underscoring its strategic focus on regional travel corridors.

Naser Fahad Alobaid emphasized the importance of regional partnerships in strengthening bilateral ties: “This route reaffirms our collaboration with Saudi aviation authorities and reflects our shared goals of enhancing mobility and promoting regional tourism.”

Travelers can now book flights to Abha via Jazeera Airways’ official website and mobile app. The airline also confirmed that attractive promotional fares will be available for a limited period following the relaunch.

As Saudi Arabia opens more of its diverse regions to global travelers, Jazeera Airways’ growing presence ensures that destinations like Abha are more accessible than ever before.
