Samsung Unveils Galaxy Z Fold7 With 200MP Camera

Samsung has launched the Galaxy Z Fold7, the thinnest and lightest device in its foldable flagship series, introducing the most advanced camera system yet for the range.

For the first time, the Z Fold series features a 200-megapixel wide-angle main camera, paired with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor. It also incorporates the company’s ProVisual Engine, with more than 160 AI-powered imaging technologies.

The combination promises to deliver sharper photography, enhanced night video, and professional-grade editing tools — all in a device that folds into a pocket-sized form.

Sharper, Brighter Photography

The 200MP main sensor, also used in the Galaxy S25 Ultra, captures shots up to 44% brighter and four times more detailed than the Galaxy Z Fold6. A faster shutter speed — up to seven times quicker — allows users to capture fleeting moments with greater clarity.

Macro photography is improved through an upgraded 12MP ultra-wide lens with autofocus and Dual Camera Depth Calibration, which ensures subjects stay sharp even at close range.

Wide-Angle Selfies and Group Shots

The main display’s 100-degree front camera produces selfies 25% wider and 2.5 times clearer than its predecessor. Wide Distortion Correction reduces stretching at the frame edges, while AI-driven enhancements improve skin texture, colour balance and portrait lighting.

Samsung has also introduced AI-powered filters modelled on over 5,000 film photographs, enabling users to adjust tone, contrast and saturation for creative expression.

Improved Low-Light Video

Low-light performance benefits from the ProVisual Engine’s Spatio-Temporal Filter, which analyses individual and multiple frames to separate subjects from noisy backgrounds.

The Galaxy Z Fold7 supports 10-bit HDR video recording for richer colour and greater dynamic range, along with Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) compatibility for wide display support. For creators, LOG video recording and a 10-bit HEVC codec provide flexibility in post-production, with colour grading assisted by Samsung’s Look-Up Table (LUT) feature.

Editing On the Go

Samsung has positioned the Z Fold7 as a portable editing suite. Its Generative Edit tool removes unwanted objects and fills backgrounds naturally, now with an 18-fold reduction in errors compared with the Z Fold6.

Other AI-assisted features include Suggest Erases, which can automatically identify and remove distractions; Side-by-Side Editing for comparing edits in real time; and an enhanced Portrait Studio for refining pet and human portraits.

A Creative Companion

Samsung says the Galaxy Z Fold7 is more than a foldable smartphone — it is a “personal creative assistant” designed for professionals, enthusiasts and casual users alike.

With its high-resolution sensor, AI-driven imaging tools, and on-device editing capabilities, the device aims to give users the flexibility to capture, refine and share content without the need for external equipment.

The Galaxy Z Fold7 is expected to be available in select markets in the coming weeks, with regional pricing to be confirmed.
