Etihad Airways has announced the return of its seasonal service to Zanzibar, offering travelers a summer escape to one of the Indian Ocean’s most iconic islands.
Starting 14 June 2026 until 6 September 2026, the airline will operate four weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and Zanzibar. The service, flown by an Airbus A320 with both Business and Economy cabins, marks Zanzibar as Etihad’s 30th new destination this year.
Etihad says the decision to relaunch the route was supported by its expanded European network, with double-daily services feeding Abu Dhabi, making Zanzibar more accessible for passengers from Europe and the GCC.
“Zanzibar is the perfect summer escape and we are thrilled to welcome it back to our growing network,” said Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways. “From world-famous beaches and spice markets to rich history and culture, Zanzibar has something for everyone.”
Known for its UNESCO-listed Stone Town, spice plantations, coral reefs, and palm-fringed beaches, Zanzibar offers a mix of relaxation and adventure. The island also serves as a gateway to Tanzania’s famous safari destinations, including the Serengeti and Kilimanjaro, making it an ideal dual-destination holiday.
The Zanzibar service complements Etihad’s growing leisure portfolio, which this summer also includes Palma de Mallorca, expanding choices for travelers seeking Mediterranean or Indian Ocean retreats.
