One of Turkey’s most admired celebrity couples, Pelin Akil and Anıl Altan, have confirmed their divorce after months of speculation about their marriage.

The pair, who first met on the set of the hit TV drama Arka Sıradakiler, quickly fell in love and tied the knot in 2016. Their relationship was often celebrated as one of the most enduring and affectionate in Turkish show business.

In 2019, the couple welcomed twin daughters, Alin and Lina. Fans frequently praised their joyful family life, with the actors often sharing moments of parenthood and love on social media. For years, the family projected an image of stability and happiness, making news of their separation especially surprising for many admirers.

Growing speculation

Over the past several months, reports began to circulate suggesting the couple’s marriage was under strain. Observers noted a decline in their joint social media posts, sparking questions about their relationship status.

The rumours gained further attention when Pelin Akil was asked directly about the speculation. She confirmed the separation, saying:
“Yes, we’ve broken up as husband and wife. But we’ll always be together because we love each other and we have children together. We’re always with each other. But don’t take this in a different way.”

Her statement indicated that while the romantic chapter of their relationship had ended, their commitment to family life remained strong.

A respectful separation

The divorce was finalised quietly and without public conflict. Reports suggest that the couple delayed the official paperwork due to ongoing brand partnerships and advertising commitments, but they eventually completed the process amicably.

Both actors emphasised that their shared focus is on raising their daughters in a loving environment. Friends and fans have noted how the couple managed the transition with mutual respect, setting an example of co-parenting after divorce.

Public reaction

News of the divorce has prompted an outpouring of support on social media. Many fans highlighted the couple’s respectful handling of the separation, praising them for prioritising their children’s wellbeing over public drama.

Pelin Akil and Anıl Altan’s journey from co-stars to partners, parents, and now co-parents continues to resonate with their supporters. While their marriage has come to an end, their family bond, as both have made clear, remains unbroken.

For their fans, the breakup marks the close of a cherished chapter in Turkish celebrity culture, but also the beginning of a new stage where love and respect endure beyond marriage.
