Aldar, Dubai Cares unite for Back to School drive

Real estate group Aldar and education-focused charity Dubai Cares are joining forces again to support underprivileged students across the UAE, in line with the nation’s declaration of 2025 as the Year of Community.

The “Back to School 2025” initiative will take place on 15 August at Nabdh Alfalah in Abu Dhabi. Around 300 volunteers will pack 10,000 school kits, which will be distributed to students from low-income families nationwide. The kits aim to ensure children start the academic year with the tools and confidence needed to succeed.

The programme is part of Dubai Cares’ flagship Volunteer Emirates campaign, which mobilises community members year-round to support education. Aldar will also fund the refurbishment of a not-for-profit school in Abu Dhabi—the first such project by Dubai Cares in the capital—following the renovation of the National Charity School for Girls in Dubai earlier this year.

Salwa Al Maflahi, Aldar’s Executive Director of Sustainability & Community Outreach, said the initiative reflects the company’s belief that “access to quality education is the cornerstone of a thriving society.” She added that the partnership promotes inclusive learning while fostering a culture of volunteerism.

Dubai Cares COO Abdulla Ahmed Al Shehhi praised Aldar’s role in enabling thousands of children to begin school “with dignity, confidence, and the tools to thrive.” He said the collaboration demonstrates how the private sector and civil society can work together for meaningful impact.

Aldar’s total contribution to Volunteer Emirates in 2025 is expected to approach AED 1.5 million, underscoring the company’s focus on corporate social responsibility and long-term community investment.
