Ooredoo, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, has launched a new career exploration programme titled Next Gen Learners, aimed at preparing Omani school students for the modern job market. The initiative, which runs from 13 to 31 July, offers young participants an opportunity to experience real-world careers within a professional environment.

Led by Ooredoo’s training team and supported by business-to-business (B2B) and corporate divisions, the programme provides two weeks of immersive learning. Students will be introduced to various career paths, observe organisational culture, and explore the ethical and operational aspects of a workplace — particularly in industries poised for future growth.

The programme aligns with Ooredoo’s long-term commitment to youth development and national progress.

“This initiative reflects Ooredoo’s commitment to building a future-ready Oman through youth development,” said Khawla Al Amri, Chief People Officer at Ooredoo. “By welcoming students into our workplace, we’re helping shape a more informed and ambitious generation, while creating pathways that connect learning to leadership.”

Bridging Education and Employment

Next Gen Learners is designed to bridge the often-wide gap between academic education and the dynamic realities of today’s workforce. Through direct exposure to professional settings, students are encouraged to visualise their futures with greater clarity and confidence.

The Ministry of Education, represented by the Career Guidance and Student Counselling Center, is playing a key role in the programme.

“We are proud to collaborate with Ooredoo on the Next Gen Learners initiative,” said Fakhriya Salim Hamed Al Musalami, Senior Career and Employment Specialist at the Ministry of Education. “Programmes like these are vital to preparing our youth for the world ahead. By exposing students to real professional environments, we are strengthening their readiness for higher education and future careers.”

A Model for Public-Private Collaboration

Ooredoo views this initiative as more than just a temporary training programme — it is a strategic investment in Oman’s human capital. It supports the company’s broader vision of contributing to national development through education and social empowerment.

The programme also represents a model of public-private collaboration, setting a precedent for how businesses and government bodies can work together to shape the future workforce.

By targeting students early in their educational journey, Next Gen Learners aims to foster ambition and curiosity, ensuring that the next generation of professionals is equipped with both the knowledge and the mindset needed to thrive.

As Oman advances toward a more diversified and skills-based economy, initiatives like Next Gen Learners will be essential in creating a pipeline of capable, career-ready youth who can contribute meaningfully to the country’s development goals.
