Microsoft has announced the promotion of Naim Yazbeck to President for the Middle East and Africa (MEA), effective July 1, 2025. Yazbeck, a veteran of the information and communication technology (ICT) sector, has been with Microsoft since 2009 and most recently served as General Manager for Microsoft UAE.

In his new role, Yazbeck will oversee Microsoft’s operations across a region marked by rapid technological change and growing digital economies. He will lead initiatives aimed at expanding cloud infrastructure, advancing AI skilling at scale, and building strategic partnerships that align with national visions and economic development goals across the MEA region.

A Visionary Leader with Deep Regional Ties

Yazbeck brings over 25 years of industry experience to the role, and has played a key part in Microsoft’s transformation efforts in the UAE since assuming leadership in 2022. His tenure saw the strengthening of ties with government agencies, startups, and academic institutions, and the launch of programs promoting digital literacy and entrepreneurship.

One of his standout achievements includes spearheading the strategic partnership between Microsoft and G42, which has accelerated the deployment of cloud and AI solutions across the MEA region. The collaboration has enabled greater access to advanced digital infrastructure and contributed to the region’s broader economic diversification efforts.

Reflecting on his promotion, Yazbeck stated:

“It has been an honor to lead Microsoft’s efforts in the UAE – a nation that continues to set the pace for digital ambition and innovation. Our vision for the Middle East and Africa is rooted in empowerment – of people, governments, and industries. We are not just building technology – we are building futures, creating jobs, and enabling inclusive economic growth across the region.”

Focus on Growth, Skilling, and Inclusion

As President of Microsoft MEA, Yazbeck will focus on scaling cloud adoption, deepening the regional partner ecosystem, and investing in AI skilling initiatives aimed at preparing the workforce for a rapidly changing digital landscape. His approach emphasizes inclusive growth, aiming to support both economic development and social advancement.

Leadership Transition in UAE

In tandem with Yazbeck’s promotion, Amr Kamel has been appointed as the new General Manager for Microsoft UAE. Kamel previously served as General Manager – Global Partner Solutions for Microsoft in Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa. He will now be responsible for driving Microsoft’s continued momentum in the UAE, one of the region’s fastest-growing digital markets.

The leadership transition reflects Microsoft’s ongoing commitment to nurturing local and regional talent while reinforcing its strategic presence in the Middle East and Africa.
