UAE telecom giant du has been honoured with three major awards at the FM Middle East 2025 Awards and the Innovation in Facilities Management 2025 Awards, in recognition of its leadership in sustainability and environmental innovation.

The accolades include the Sustainability Initiative of the Year from both award bodies, reflecting du’s significant achievements in reducing its environmental footprint and promoting sustainable practices within the telecom and digital services sector.

Adel AlRais, Head of Corporate Communication & Protocol at du, expressed pride in the achievement:

“These awards highlight our commitment to pioneering sustainable practices within the industry. Our journey is driven by a vision to create broad impact—not just in our operations, but across the community, the nation, and the region.”

Key to du’s sustainability strategy is its use of renewable energy and AI technology. The company currently operates 169 solar-powered telecom sites and has implemented advanced cooling system optimisation, collectively reducing carbon emissions by 8.6 kilotonnes of CO₂.

du has also moved to 100% digital invoicing, significantly cutting paper use, and employs AI-driven solutions to reduce energy consumption across its infrastructure, including the Radio Access Network (RAN).

In alignment with the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 strategic initiative, du continues to champion principles of the circular economy. It successfully diverted 31% of its total waste from landfills and composted over 20,000 kg of food waste, reinforcing its environmental responsibility.

The company’s sustainability achievements have been recognised beyond the FM sector. In 2024, du received the ESG Label from the Dubai Chamber, earning a high score of 91.48% for its environmental, social, and governance performance. Additionally, du was awarded the Udemy Business MENA Excellence Award, highlighting its commitment to corporate learning and sustainable innovation.

These recognitions reflect du’s broader ambition to be a tech-driven force for environmental good, aligning technological advancement with meaningful climate action.

As sustainability becomes a central theme in corporate strategy across the region, du’s success demonstrates how telecom operators can lead by example—using innovation not only to drive business performance, but to actively support national climate goals.

With continued focus on energy efficiency, waste reduction, and digital transformation, du is positioning itself as a regional benchmark for sustainable development, playing a key role in the UAE’s green transition.
