The Dubai Open Tennis Academies Championship concluded on a high note, drawing attention to the city’s continued investment in youth sports and talent development. Organised by the Dubai Sports Council in partnership with the UAE Tennis Federation, the event reflects a broader government directive to attract and cultivate talent across all sectors, including sport.
The championship, hosted at the Top Spin and Hub Tennis courts, welcomed 151 young athletes from 17 tennis academies across the UAE. Over the course of the tournament, participants competed in 170 knockout matches, displaying high levels of skill, determination, and competitive spirit.
The event covered multiple age groups—under 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18—for both boys and girls. These categories offered budding athletes an ideal platform to test their abilities in a competitive setting and gain valuable match experience.
Winners were recognised in an award ceremony led by Ahmed Salem Al Mahri, Director of the Sports Talent Development Department at Dubai Sports Council, and Nasser Al Marzouqi, Secretary General of the UAE Tennis Federation.
In the under-10 boys’ category, Ayan Abdel Qader emerged victorious, with Bert Muniz finishing as runner-up. Among the under-12 girls, Oteko Azuki claimed the title, while Yasmin Iraqi secured second place. Kamel Ritel Benani won the under-12 boys’ event, ahead of Alec Laro.
The under-14 girls’ division saw Isabel James take the top spot, followed by Mayar Rahal. In the boys’ division, Alex Rafa Aldemaita showcased exceptional form, defeating Mohamed Al Ali to claim the title.
Aldemaita continued his winning momentum in the under-16 boys’ category, securing another title, with Manan Ahuja placing second. On the girls’ side, Zenro Jung won the under-16 division, with Isabel James returning to the podium as runner-up.
Jung also triumphed in the under-18 girls’ competition, finishing ahead of Archibrit Kaur, while Satvir Sandkumar won the under-18 boys’ title, with Abdulrahman Al Marzouqi in second place.
The championship was supported by key partners including Wilson, Al Rawdah Springs, Sportify Academy, and Imkan – Emirates Petroleum, whose involvement contributed significantly to the tournament’s success.
This event forms part of the broader Dubai Open Academies Championships series, which includes multiple disciplines such as football, basketball, swimming, and gymnastics. The initiative aims to identify and nurture promising talent that can feed into future UAE national teams.
With each successful edition, the Dubai Sports Council strengthens Dubai’s reputation as a leading hub for youth development and sports excellence, ensuring that young athletes receive the support and exposure needed to compete at regional and international levels.
