A horrifying amusement park accident in Taif, Saudi Arabia, has left 23 people injured after a ride malfunctioned mid-operation at the Green Mountain Amusement Park.

The incident occurred on the popular attraction known as “360 Degrees”, which features a rotating arm that spins passengers in a circular motion. According to Saudi news outlet Okaz, the ride’s arm broke off suddenly during operation, violently colliding with the ride’s main pole before crashing to the ground. Passengers seated on the opposite end also collided with the structure, intensifying the severity of the injuries.

A video of the accident, which has been widely circulated on social media, shows the terrifying moment the ride splits and swings out of control, followed by chaos and screams from onlookers.

Eyewitness reports and unverified social media posts added disturbing details. One user on X (formerly Twitter) claimed that a woman aboard the ride suffered a leg amputation due to the impact. “One of them, may God heal her and compensate her, her leg was amputated because the ride fell on her, and she fainted,” the user wrote.

Another post questioned the regulatory oversight of the amusement park: “Who is responsible for the Green Mountain games in Taif? And which entity granted the permit without verifying safety and maintenance conditions?”

Calls for accountability and compensation have since flooded Saudi social media platforms, with many urging the government to act swiftly. “We demand justice for the injured and proper safety checks across all amusement parks in the country,” one user stated.

In response, local authorities in Taif have launched a formal investigation to determine the cause of the incident and whether there were any lapses in safety protocols or maintenance standards.

The condition of the injured victims remains unclear, but Okaz reported that some sustained serious injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals for emergency treatment.

The Green Mountain Amusement Park, located in Taif’s popular tourist zone, is often crowded with families and young visitors, particularly during summer. The incident has raised growing concern over ride safety across the kingdom, especially at seasonal parks and traveling amusement setups.

This is not the first time amusement park safety has come under scrutiny in the region. Authorities are now under pressure to strengthen safety regulations and ensure thorough inspections of such rides nationwide.

As of now, the park has not released an official statement regarding the accident or the ride’s inspection history. Updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
