Chinese automaker OMODA&JAECOO is preparing to introduce its flagship hybrid vehicle, the Jaecoo J7 SHS (Super Hybrid System), in the United Arab Emirates by the end of August. Aimed at redefining hybrid mobility in the region, the J7 combines long-range capability, fuel efficiency, and advanced safety features, all while eliminating the need for external charging.

The J7 SHS offers a significant breakthrough in hybrid technology with its Super Hybrid System, designed to provide the experience of an electric vehicle without the dependence on public charging stations. The system enables the car to travel over 1,200 kilometers on a full tank and charge, with an electric-only range of 90 kilometers — ideal for short daily commutes.

According to the company, the vehicle is a response to growing demand in the UAE for sustainable yet practical mobility solutions, especially in areas where EV charging infrastructure remains limited.

“The J7 SHS is built to offer freedom of movement, efficiency, and peace of mind for drivers across the Emirates,” said a spokesperson for OMODA&JAECOO.

Engineered for the Emirates

What sets the J7 SHS apart is its adaptability to the UAE’s extreme climate. Designed to operate in temperatures ranging from -35°C to 60°C, it consumes just 3.1 litres per 100 kilometers in hybrid mode — a class-leading efficiency figure.

The vehicle also delivers impressive performance figures. Under the hood, it features a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with dual electric motors, producing a combined 328 horsepower and 515 Nm of torque. A Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) ensures a smooth, gearless drive across varied terrain.

Five-Star Safety and Smart Features

Safety is a cornerstone of the J7 SHS, which has earned five-star ratings from both Euro NCAP and ANCAP. Key safety features include:

  • Intelligent lane support
  • Central curtain airbags
  • Emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection
  • 2-millisecond battery cut-off after impact

Inside, the J7 SHS offers a luxurious cabin with Nappa leather seats, a 13.2-inch HD infotainment system, customizable ambient lighting, and a Sony premium sound system. Tech-savvy users will also appreciate features such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 540-degree panoramic camera for enhanced visibility.

The vehicle’s Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability allows users to power external devices — such as camping gear or emergency tools — directly from the car at up to 3.3 kW.

More to Come

The launch of the J7 SHS in the UAE is only the beginning. OMODA&JAECOO also plans to introduce the J8 SHS, a high-performance hybrid SUV boasting 596 HP and AWD, and the C7 SHS, later this year.

As the UAE moves toward a more sustainable transportation landscape, the Jaecoo J7 SHS may represent a new benchmark in hybrid innovation — one where charging becomes optional, but progress remains guaranteed.
