The UAE has once again entered the global spotlight with a record-breaking creation that blends heritage, luxury, and artistry. Al Romaizan Gold and Jewelry Company has officially received a Guinness World Records certificate for its extraordinary creation, the “Dubai Dress”, now recognised as the world’s heaviest dress made from pure 21-carat gold.

The announcement was made during a special ceremony at Expo Sharjah, held on the sidelines of the 56th Middle East Watch and Jewelry Exhibition. The achievement not only underscores Emirati craftsmanship but also reinforces Dubai’s reputation as an international hub for innovation in the gold and jewelry industry.

A dress made of gold

The Dubai Dress is a masterpiece weighing an astonishing 10.0812 kilograms of 21-carat gold, with an estimated value of Dh4.6 million ($1.25 million). The creation is composed of four main pieces:

  • A golden crown (398 grams)
  • A necklace (8,810.6 grams)
  • Earrings (134.1 grams)
  • A heyar (traditional headpiece, 738.5 grams)

Together, these components form a dazzling ensemble that merges modern design with deep cultural roots.

Al Romaizan’s designers took inspiration from authentic Emirati heritage, embedding the work with symbolism that reflects the essence of history and tradition, while presenting it with a refined, contemporary style. The design is further enriched with intricate decorations, precise engravings, and coloured precious stones, elevating it from jewelry to a work of art.

Craftsmanship meets heritage

Speaking at the ceremony, Mohsen Al Dhaibani, Regional Deputy Manager of Al Romaizan, said the achievement represented much more than an entry in the record books.

“This work reflects the UAE’s ambition to achieve global leadership and highlights Dubai’s position as the premier destination for gold and jewelry enthusiasts,” Al Dhaibani said. “Recording Dubai Dress in Guinness is not merely an achievement, but a message to the world confirming that the UAE is capable of combining authenticity with innovation and cementing its presence at the forefront of the gold and jewelry industry.”

Expo Sharjah: where heritage meets prestige

The record-breaking unveiling at Expo Sharjah further reinforces the exhibition’s growing role as a platform that connects regional excellence with international recognition. The event annually draws leading names in luxury, horology, and fine jewelry, providing an opportunity for Emirati creations to stand alongside global masterpieces.

For Al Romaizan, this recognition signals a defining moment in its journey. The company has long been associated with pioneering design and intricate gold craftsmanship, and the Dubai Dress represents the pinnacle of its creative efforts.

Gold, glamour, and global attention

The record also cements Dubai’s wider reputation as the “City of Gold”, a title earned through decades of global trade, innovation, and artistry in precious metals. The creation of the heaviest gold dress is likely to draw attention from collectors, fashion connoisseurs, and cultural enthusiasts worldwide.

As the UAE continues to blend heritage with innovation, the Dubai Dress stands as a glittering testament to the country’s ambition to redefine luxury while preserving its cultural roots.
