Well, we’ve just had one of the most amazing starts to 2012. What about that performance by Coldplay on New Year’s Eve Abu Dhabi? Talk about starting 2012 on a high!

A big thank you to FLASH Entertainment for bringing these musical legends to our shores once again.

I’m not forgetting, of course, the arrival of Abu Dhabi’s Volvo Ocean Racing Team on the stunning Azzam. We were there on the Breakwater, waving in the fleet (as we hope you all were). What an achievement and what a brave group of sailors.

We had the pleasure of hopping aboard the practice yacht late last year for a quick sail along the Corniche with the team, and we were amazed by the cramped conditions below deck. We were in calm waters and can’t imagine how terrifying it must have been for the crew to lose their mast in rough seas during the first leg of the race off the Spanish coast.

They all deserve a huge pat on the back from all of us here in Abu Dhabi before they continue on their next grueling leg to China. Well done boys!

Now we’re well and truly in to 2012, we’d like to get you excited about everything that’s coming up this year. From old favourites (with a new twist) such as the Abu Dhabi Festival and Abu Dhabi Gourmet to new hotels, new restaurants and spas and more events to look forward to.

2012 looks to be even busier than last year! And we can’t wait to share it all with you. It’s going to be a goody!
