Aspetar, Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital, is set to host its first Global Sports Medicine Conference this October in Doha, Qatar. Taking place from October 8 to 10, 2025, the landmark event is expected to be one of the largest global gatherings in the field of sports medicine this year.

With over 100 international experts from 35+ countries, the conference will explore cutting-edge advancements in athlete health and performance. The robust agenda includes 18 keynote speeches, over 30 specialized sessions per day, and interactive workshops, covering a range of topics from injury surgery and sports science to AI integration and regenerative medicine.

Khalid Ali Al-Mawlawi, Acting Director General of Aspetar, emphasized the institution’s goal of bringing together the world’s leading minds to further research and education in sports medicine. “This conference highlights Qatar’s and Aspetar’s commitment to pushing the boundaries in athlete care both locally and globally,” he stated.

The scientific committee, comprised of top global and local professionals, has structured the event into four main tracks:

  1. Sports Injuries
  2. Medical Conditions
  3. Performance Sciences
  4. Nursing, Pharmacy, and Dental Medicine

Among the headline speakers are:

  • Dr. Andrew Massey, FIFA Medical Director, on FIFA’s athlete health strategies.
  • Prof. Roald Bahr, discussing the IOC’s health protection initiatives.
  • Dr. Kirsty Burrows, redefining athlete health from a holistic standpoint.
  • Dr. Pieter D’Hooghe, on elite surgical advances.
  • Prof. Marco Cardinale, addressing youth athlete health.
  • Dr. Brian Cole, on cartilage disorders in athletes.
  • Dr. Elisabeth Hagert, focusing on hand and wrist surgical innovation.

Day two will emphasize rehabilitation, with presentations from:

  • Rola Kotsifaki, on ACL return-to-play protocols.
  • Marcelo Bordalo, exploring AI in sports medical imaging.
  • Dr. Khalid Al-Khelaifi, showcasing cartilage treatment advances.

On the final day, topics will include sports medicine in extreme environments, psychological rehabilitation, and cutting-edge ACL surgeries presented by Dr. Dave Collins and Alan Getgood, respectively.

The event also features poster presentations, daily panels, and hands-on workshops—some offering CPD-accredited credit hours, as Aspetar is a recognized education provider by Qatar’s Department of Healthcare Professions.

The conference represents more than just an academic gathering—it signals Aspetar’s growing global influence. By merging innovation with clinical excellence, Aspetar aims to shape the future of athlete healthcare through international collaboration, research, and technological integration.

With AI, surgery, and sports science converging on a global platform, the Aspetar World Sports Medicine Conference 2025 is set to redefine best practices in the dynamic world of sports medicine.
