An upcoming fun festival is set to see Abu Dhabi residents spice up their weekend plans.

The capital’s family-themed ‘The Big Weekend’ will see visitors head to Zayed Sports City from 30th October to 1st November for three days of exciting activities and events.

The family-friendly festival will feature a variety of kid-themed games, sports activities, arts and crafts and, of course, live entertainment. From soapy soccer, bouncy castles and a petting zoo, there will be something for everyone.

In addition, budding athletes across the UAE will get the chance to compete for the title of ‘Abu Dhabi’s Fittest Kid.’ The competition will see children of all ages battle it out for bragging rights and a great prize.

“The Big Weekend will be attended by thousands of families because it offers an unrivalled way to spend the weekend together,” said Barry Bremner, general manager of Zayed Sports City.

Competitions, youth performances, and a handicrafts bazaar are also set to keep visitors occupied throughout the three-day weekend.

Big kids can also get in on the action, as Zayed Sports City is offering adults and teens the opportunity to participate in activities such as football, tennis, rugby and basketball. Alongside the sporting activities an obstacle course and bungee run will be on offer.

“We’ve put a lot of effort into making sure that nobody will be left out of the fun. The Big Weekend will get families to spend meaningful and active time together and it’s going to be a fantastic event,” noted Bremner.

The Big Weekend runs at Zayed Sports City from 30th October to 1st November 2014. Prices for tickets are AED 50 for a day pass, whilst a family ticket is also available for AED 180. The cost of the ticket includes admission to all activities. For more information visit: thebigweekendabudhabi.com
