Rubber ducks waddle into Waterworld

School children across the capital are racing to gather rubber ducks ahead of Yas Waterworld’s charity race on 10th May.

The second Yas Waterworld Duck Race, held in partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation UAE, will see a giant flock of rubber ducklings bobbing down the Yadi Yas river in hope of victory.

With just a few weeks to go, the students are still busy ‘adopting’ ducks to race, while raising funds for the local charity, which grants the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses. The school that gathers the most ducks for the race will get a free outing to Yas Waterworld.

“The response thus far has been phenomenal, and we are blown away by the enthusiastic support. With a few weeks to go before the 10th of May race, we have heard that the schools are going all out to make sure that the Yadi Yas river at Yas Waterworld is full of rubber racing ducks as they float around the park in hope of victory,” said Ryan Watkins, marketing manager Yas Waterworld.

The charity initiative, which was first held in September 2013, was the result of a child’s Make-A-Wish trip to the waterpark.

“Our entire team loved what their charity does and we put our heads together to see what we could do to make a bigger impact – as well as having some fun along the way,” added Watkins.

The event is open to the public. To find out more, call 02 414 2000.
