Abu Dhabi’s film industry is building its global reputation following a meeting at the world’s film production capital.

Representatives from twofour54 and Image Nation Abu Dhabi, the region’s leading content creator, recently met with top Hollywood executives in Los Angeles to highlight Abu Dhabi’s importance as a film and television hub.

“Abu Dhabi has made a tremendous impact in the production sector attracting some of the world’s largest and most successful movie franchises,” said Noura Al Kaabi, CEO of twofour54.

“The success we are experiencing is due to the infrastructure and support we have established at twofour54, the development of local talent, the overwhelming support of government entities, and Abu Dhabi Film Commission’s 30 per cent rebate on production spend in the Emirate.”

Image Nation chairman, Mohamed Al Mubarak, highlighted the company’s upcoming productions, including a current co-production with twofour54, From A to B, directed by Emirati filmmaker Ali Mostafa.

“Image Nation and twofour54 are focused on developing our regional talents with international expertise, to enable local filmmakers to learn from world-class talent and together build the UAE’s film sector,” added Image Nation chairman, Mohamed Al Mubarak.

In the past year, Abu Dhabi has been the location for several major international titles including Star Wars: Episode VII, and The Fast and the Furious 7.

The LA meeting coincided with the launch of Etihad Airways’ non-stop service from Abu Dhabi to Los Angeles, creating further possibilities for Hollywood studios to uncover the UAE capital’s unique locations and production infrastructure.
