The Emirates’ history will once again come to life as the capital’s stunning heritage festival is set to return.

A host of cultural activities will feature in the fifth edition of the Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival, which runs from 20th November for 20 days.

Hosted in Al Wathba, a series of exhibitions, live interactions and entertainment will help visitors engage with the UAE’s history and heritage from the nation’s forefathers to today’s modern metropolis.

“This festival is a reflection of our Emirati heritage and a voyage through time that encompasses our past, present and future,” said HE Sheikh Sultan Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Advisor to HH the Ruler of the UAE, President of the Camel Race Association and Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee of the Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival 2014.

“It reminds us all that our nation’s prosperity is not a mere coincidence, but built on the strong foundations of past achievements.”

Held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, the festival will feature a variety of museums that portray four natural environments: desert, oasis, mountains and sea.

The cultural showcase is held with the support of HH General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council; and the direct supervision of HH Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.

HE Sheikh Sultan Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan noted: “Their wise leadership has brought giant leaps of progress since the festival’s inception four years ago, and facilitated its expansion to embrace an international audience.”

Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority has expressed its aim to promote the festival globally in the coming years.
