Conservative Couture

The temperature may still be high but that doesn’t mean your hem lines should be. Abu Dhabi Week spoke to fashion blogger Myriam Bunni to discover how to make your fashion moments more modest

Skin is definitely not in this season, so we decided to get some tips and tricks on how to stay cool and collected in the Middle Eastern heat.

So put those jeans and plain T-shirts down because this season it’s all about comfort without sacrificing style. Thanks to the likes of Celine, Erdem and Mary Katrantzou who set out a perfect example, dressing stylishly in a conservative way has never been so easy.

Check out these guidelines on how to dress to impress…

The Party Pant

Ditch your skinny jeans and leggings and opt for a more breezy and comfy alternative. Bright and printed pallazo pants are all the rage, with designers such as Prabal Gurung and Pucci sending them down the runway. Pair them with a plain white tee and a tailored blazer or go bold and match your bottoms to your top.

Switch your Minis with Maxis

The maxi dress is a major lightweight staple that everyone can rock. Go for a more boho-chic and laidback look by layering your jersey maxi with a short, washed out jean waistcoat.

Go Bold or Go Home!

Brights are the new black. Put those dark clothes away and wear some colour. You even get extra style points when you wear prints such as floral, Aztec and animal.

White

What better way to look fresh? A crisp clean white suit works wonders for work or a night out. For a more casual everyday look, incorporate white in your wardrobe with basics.

Make a Statement

No one wants to look boring and plain that’s for sure. Jazz up your outfit and
add a special touch to stand out. Statement necklaces are here to stay, layer a few if you’re feeling brave or just have an ‘arm party’ by stacking colourful bracelets on your arm.

Fashion Mantra: “Fashion fades, style is eternal.” – Yves Saint Laurent or in other words, fashion is what you buy, style is what you do with it.

Current trend obsession: Bold hues! This season burgundy, cobalt blue and yellow is what I’ll be wearing. A bright pant or an A-line midi skirt in these colours are major wardrobe staples.

Any last words? Life’s too short to dress badly.
