The Art of Racing

Want to see the face of Abu Dhabi? From 14th October to 13th November, the Art of Racing will get the creative and competitive juices working among young artists in a city-wide school art project to capture the spirit of Yasalam in mosaics.

theart

Students from selected schools, who have permission from their parents, will be asked to pose with a steering wheel against a Yasalam branded backdrop. Once collected, the photos will all be combined to create a patchwork mosaic in the shape of a race car, with different schools represented by different colours. Finally, the collages from all the schools will be displayed in the form of 3D art installation cubes which will be lit from within so that all the children’s faces will be visible during the day and night.

These art instillation cubes will be on display on the Corniche, so if your school participated, go down and see if you can find your face amongst the mosaic. While you’re there, check out the Corniche Galleria with exciting images of past Yasalam events. A photography competition will also be held in universities with the best pictures displayed as part of the Art of Racing programme.

Slogan competition
Are you handy with words? If Yasalam visits your school, you can enter the Art of Racing slogan competition by completing the phrase “Having the Formula 1 in Abu Dhabi means ...” The school will select one winning slogan from every year level from kindergarten to grade twelve; thereafter, a judging panel will select the best 13 slogans to win a prize.
