Summer In Abu Dhabi is back for another fun-filled edition and promises to be bigger and more exciting than ever!

It’s that time of year again! Pack up the kids and head to the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) for this year’s installment of the exciting Summer In Abu Dhabi festival.

Looking through the photos of last year’s Summer In Abu Dhabi got us all nostalgic and we remembered all the fun and frolics we had with our kids at ADNEC last year.

The month-long event, which will run ?across four halls from 21st June to 19th July, will feature 11 mega activities to entertain tourists and residents during the hot summer months. ADNEC will be buzzing with activities and displays for the whole family and we can’t wait!

Last year’s event was fantastic, we’re not sure how they’re going to top it, but we know they will. Show World is shaping up to be every kid’s dream gig, with four character performances every weekday and six on weekends.?
?

“This year we have lined up an action-packed programme that will enthrall everyone from tiny tots to ?adventure-seeking teenagers,” said Faisal Al Sheikh, events manager at the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture ?Authority, which presents the annual extravaganza.?

Seven different character shows have been devised for Show World, including the ever-popular Louna musical, which will be performed in Arabic and English, bringing the Arab world’s ?favourite doll to life. Other shows include The Jungle Book, Ice Age and four fairy-tale ice spectaculars - ?Peter Pan, Snow White, Cinderella and Beauty and The Beast.?

The fun this year starts from the very moment Summer In Abu Dhabi goers arrive at ADNEC, with a special train to transport families from the car park to the entrance of the festival.

Once inside, visitors can step back millions of years to the Ice Age Village with activities inspired by ?the popular movies, the fourth installment of which will hit cinema screens this summer.? Just don’t get too close to Manny, he is a sabre-tooth tiger after all! We’re likely to be hugging Sid the sloth!

Over in Adventure World, the daring can join in numerous activities in the Lost City or take up the Zorb ?Ball Challenge over an obstacle-rich course sure to cause some thrills and spills!?

Eight challenges and fun activities await you at the Galactic Academy, including the extremely testing trial of passing ?through the Laser Room without crossing laser beams and lines.?

Families with an artistic bent will love Artsville, which will come alive with eight creative activities to bring out your child’s inner artiste. Kids can ?paint their own T-shirts, plates and even faces!? Our six-year-old daughter transformed into a fashion design diva at last year’s event, creating a T-shirt that was very fashion-forward indeed.

At the Clown Stunt Academy, youngsters will learn how to perform movie stunts through different ?interactive activities, while the more adventurous (ahem, or crazy) can get onboard the Big Bag Jump and plunge into a massive air ?bag from a height of ten metres.?

All the activities will be backed by a bigger-than-ever summer playground, fun fair rides and games galore. Mums take note – the carousel makes an excellent spot to sit down for a breather!

While the action happens in the main festival area, ?in three adjoining halls the Abu Dhabi Sports Council will host a range of activities and workshops as part ?of its Summer Sports Festival, targeted at sports enthusiasts of all ages. We expect to lose our husband to this exhibition while we’re traipsing round after the kids!

With so much more in store than previous years, we can’t wait to head along and see for ourselves just how much fun can be had at ADNEC,

Summer In Abu Dhabi will be open at ADNEC from 3pm to 9pm Sunday to Thursday and from 2pm until 10pm ?Friday to Saturday.?

Entry to the festival activities, including the three Abu Dhabi Sports Council ?halls, is AED 40 for adults and AED 30 for children under 12 years of age. Tickets ?will be available at the door. Visitors producing an Etihad boarding pass with validity from 15th May to 19th July get a single entry free.?
