Editorial Policy

Last updated: 16/10/2025

Welcome to AbuDhabiWeek (“we”, “us”, “our”).
As a trusted source of news, lifestyle, and cultural content about Abu Dhabi and the UAE, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, integrity, fairness, and editorial independence.
This Editorial Policy outlines the principles and practices that guide all our editorial work — from news coverage and opinion writing to multimedia production.

1. Our Editorial Mission

Our mission is to inform, inspire, and engage our readers by providing accurate, balanced, and insightful coverage of life in Abu Dhabi and across the UAE.
We celebrate the city’s people, culture, business, innovation, and community spirit while upholding the values of respect, truthfulness, and social responsibility.

2. Editorial Independence

AbuDhabiWeek operates independently from commercial, political, or personal interests.
We maintain a clear separation between:

  • Editorial content (produced by our newsroom and editorial team)

  • Advertising and sponsored content (paid or promotional material)

Editorial decisions are made solely by the editorial team and are not influenced by advertisers, sponsors, or other external parties.

3. Accuracy and Verification

We strive to ensure that every story we publish is accurate, factual, and verified.
Our editorial team follows these standards:

  • Information must be checked with credible and reliable sources.

  • Facts are corroborated using at least two independent sources where possible.

  • Direct quotes are reproduced faithfully and attributed correctly.

  • Headlines accurately reflect the content — never sensationalized or misleading.

  • Corrections are made transparently and promptly when errors are identified.

If you believe we have published inaccurate information, please contact us (see Section 11) and we will review the concern.

4. Fairness and Impartiality

We aim to cover stories fairly and impartially:

  • All sides of a story are presented when reporting on matters of public interest.

  • Individuals and organizations mentioned in our coverage are given the opportunity to respond before publication.

  • Editorial opinions are clearly labeled as such (e.g. “Opinion” or “Editorial”) and are distinct from factual reporting.

  • We avoid conflicts of interest and disclose any potential bias.

5. Diversity, Inclusion, and Respect

AbuDhabiWeek is committed to reflecting the diversity of Abu Dhabi’s society — its cultures, communities, and perspectives.

We do not publish or tolerate content that promotes discrimination, hate speech, or prejudice based on race, gender, religion, nationality, language, disability, or beliefs.
All contributors are expected to adhere to respectful, inclusive communication that aligns with UAE cultural norms and values.

6. Ethical Standards and Legal Compliance

Our editorial practices comply with:

  • UAE Federal Law No. 15 of 1980 on Publications and Publishing

  • Guidelines of the UAE Media Regulatory Office (MRO) and National Media Council (NMC)

  • The UAE Code of Media Content (Resolution No. 23 of 2017)

  • The UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 (Personal Data Protection Law) where applicable to content collection and publication

We ensure that all published material respects the UAE’s cultural sensitivities, religious values, and legal framework.

7. Advertising and Sponsored Content

We may publish sponsored articles, advertorials, or partner content. These are always clearly labeled (e.g. “Sponsored”, “Advertiser Content”, or “In Partnership With”) to maintain transparency.

Sponsored content must still meet our editorial quality standards and comply with UAE advertising laws.
Editorial staff retain the right to reject any sponsored material that conflicts with our ethics or brand values.

8. Corrections and Updates

If an error appears in our content, we will correct it promptly and clearly.
Corrections or updates are typically noted at the end of the article with a timestamp and explanation.
Significant errors are addressed with formal correction notices.

To request a correction or raise a concern, please contact our editorial desk.

9. User-Generated Content and Comments

We value our readers’ engagement and feedback.
However, to maintain a respectful environment:

  • Comments are moderated and may be edited or removed if they contain hate speech, harassment, spam, false claims, or offensive material.

  • We reserve the right to block users who repeatedly violate these standards.

  • User submissions (e.g. letters, photos, tips) may be published only with consent and acknowledgment, unless anonymity is requested and justified.

10. Privacy and Data Ethics

We respect the privacy of our readers, sources, and contributors.
All collection or use of personal information in editorial work is handled according to our Privacy Policy and in compliance with UAE data protection laws.

We do not publish personal or sensitive information without consent, unless it is demonstrably in the public interest and handled ethically.
