Design on a dime

Our nails were in an awful state, so when we were offered the chance to shine and polish our digits at Bellacure Nails we jumped at the chance.

Inside the surprisingly roomy spa, we opt for the Dead Sea Arabian Renewal Mani and Pedi. Featuring products from the all-natural Bella Luccé line meant to relax and detoxify our skin, we pick out our favourite Essie polishes (we like Olé Caliente) before settling into the comfy red leather seats.

With a welcoming green tea in hand, two attendants arrive and introduce themselves. After seeing us struggle to pull our skinny jeans above our knees they advise a quick change into a polka-dotted skirt for a more comfortable experience.

After saturating our nails in a special Red Sea salt soak to soften our cuticles, we are trimmed, filed and clipped until our digits are perfectly shaped. Next is an Exotic Date and Wild Honey Buff scrub that’s filled with delicious ingredients including Turkish coffee, vanilla beans, pomegranate oil and crushed dates, meant to detoxify our skin and saturate it in healing antioxidants. Our limbs smell so good we’re tempted to take a nibble!

On to the masque: we’re slathered in Moroccan lava clay and yogurt to deep clean our pores and draw out any lingering impurities.

Decidedly not as nice smelling as we were moments before, our arms and legs are wrapped up like a cling-film mummy to let the mud absorb completely. After ten minutes we’re as soft and supple as a baby.

To top it off, we’re treated to another quick massage – this time with almond crème and sandalwood lotion to really let our skin gleam. After all of that pampering, we’re finally down to business and watch as our attendants expertly paint our nails.
