Wrinkles? What wrinkles?

For the past few years, regular Botox sessions had become part of our beauty regimen, but since relocating to Abu Dhabi a few months ago we were slightly apprehensive about trying it in a different country

For sheer convenience, as they have so many locations around the city, we decided to try Kaya Skin Clinic at Abu Dhabi Mall.

We started off by filling out a small questionnaire and then the doctor went through a full consultation with us. She asked us to move our face in certain ways so she could determine how much Botox we needed and where.

The good news was that our lines were "minimal" and so she decided that we would need about 27 to 30 units of Botox while the average face usually requires between 30 and 40 units. Each unit of Botox costs AED 30, but with a further 20 percent discount as part of a Kaya promotion we were very happy. The whole treatment was going to be much cheaper than those we'd experienced in the UK.

Next the doctor rubbed an anaesthetic cream on our face to numb the pain. We'd never been offered this before so it was a nice touch and definitely made the experience all the more bearable. The cream took around 45 minutes to take effect and then we started the injections. We barely felt the (very small) needles going to work on our lines and we could hardly believe a few minutes later when the doctor told us we were all done!

We had no telltale needle marks, redness or swelling. After our appointment we just headed back to work as normal and no one noticed the difference!

Botox starts to take effect between three days and two weeks after the initial application. Two weeks on and we're delighted with the result. Without feeling frozen we now have a nice smooth forehead, no frown lines and the wrinkles around our eyes have definitely improved. We'll be going back in about three to four months’ time!
