Practically edible

With all the exposure our skin has been getting this winter, we thought it was high time we got matters under control. Thankfully, the new Coco Luscious facial at Sisters Beauty Lounge is just the remedy for our sun-kissed, wind-blown complexion.

Rather than diving right in, we settle into the gorgeous treatment room and start with an extensive consultation with our therapist Joon.

This facial is not suited to anyone with sunburn so she first determines that our skin will benefit from the treatment.

It turns out our thirsty cells are desperate for some moisture and that the Coco Luscious facial should be just the ticket.

After an initial basic cleaning with lotion and then scrub, Joon slips into a pair of poppy seed gloves. Like everything else about this facial, the gloves help restore our skin’s inherent glow by borrowing from the beauty of nature. The rough gloves give the effect of microdermabrasion without the large, loud machine and we’re happily relieved of a few dead layers.

Going even deeper, the pineapple enzyme peel that comes next exfoliates our face further. Down to a fresh layer of skin, Joon turns on the soothing steam to open our pores so that she can work on unclogging them with special tools the exfoliating steps can’t reach.

As clean as we can get, Joon now sets to work replacing that much needed moisture, first with a soothing mask and then by massaging in sun defence lotions. A veritable fruit salad goes into this thorough treatment that uses organic products from Hungary.

For an added layer of protection from those damaging rays, Joon gives us a proper dusting with tinted powder. Unlike with many facials, we finish this one thoroughly satisfied with fresh, clean, supple skin that looks reasonably put together instead of red or irritated.
