Reader's writes - 7th April 2011

Dear Abu Dhabi Week,
I wanted to commend Ali Karrar on his column "Labourers" in your 24-30 March edition [Young Writers']. I was incredibly impressed with his insight into and tenderness toward the plight of labourers in this country. One of the most important jobs of a writer is "speaking truth to power, and he has managed to do an excellent job of calling for a change. I hope he has many more opportunities to effect the world around him.

Dear Editor,
I can't take it anymore! I have no idea why Charlie Kennedy keeps writing her reviews for things using 'we' instead of 'I'. Perhaps she feels it makes it more general or something but as a reader it is just too wacky.
Last week 'we' had a massage and this week 'we' had teeth whitening. Interesting articles but unless there were two people getting rubbed down at the same time or sitting together in the dentist's chair it is bizarre and difficult to read.
The Queen shouldn't do it and neither should Charlie Kennedy.
Otherwise - a good read.
Sarah Pattinson

Editor: When Charlie says 'we' she is in fact referring to the Abu Dhabi Week team! All of us, when writing tried and tested reviews or news stories use the Royal ‘we’, not just Charlie. We hope this answers your complaint.

Have your say
