Dear Abu Dhabi Week,
Thank you for the recent Very Useful Guide to Education. I found it to be very timely and informative.
I do have some queries. A couple of the key elements of ADEC's policy you have listed are in conflict with the information I received from a particular school. This school originally charged AED 1,000 per new student for a registration fee when it first opened in September 2008. This has now been increased to AED 2,000. These registration fees are not deducted from the term fees.
This conflicts with the information in your Guide. What is the actual position?

Editor: We checked with the Abu Dhabi Education Council and received the following official statement:
"The admission or registration fee may be collected before the beginning of the academic year, provided it should be deducted later from the approved school fees, and such fee should not be more than five percent of the school fees and with a maximum of AED 500".
It would seem that the school in this case is not following the rules. Any other readers with similar experiences?
