Your Abu Dhabi – Dawn Andersson

Dawn Andersson, author of food and travel blog www.cakeandtravels.com tells us about her favourite food finds in the capital.

Indian Snacks by Bon Food at Madinat Zayed

The dosas are wafer thin, crisp at the edges and not too oily. So too are their samosas, flaky pastry with a spicy pea and potato filling, they are cooked to perfection. Their masala tea is not bad either and everything is vegetarian!

Manoush at Lebanese Flower Bakery in Khalidiya

Fast food at its best, the boys over there do a great job of feeding the masses. You can actually order wholewheat in advance. I usually go for the zaatar manoush with salad.

Grilled fish with Arabic spicy sauce at the Fish Market, Mina

If you haven’t tried this than you are living under a rock. This is probably as fresh as it gets! We usually prefer to go Arabic style with a bit of spice, it’s then cooked and ready to be devoured!

Tip: don’t choose too small a fish because it will shrink in size and definitely don’t ask for it to be filleted because the juices are best retained in a whole fish.
