Your Abu Dhabi

Our Resident fashion columnist Manar al Hinai takes a break from trend spotting to interview Emirati entrepreneur Reem al Nowais, whose passion for baking has recently come to life at her bakery, La Torta.

What inspired you to launch your own bakery store?

My mother was my greatest inspiration. As a child, I used to love being in the kitchen and would joyfully watch her prepare the most delicious desserts. Being a full-time employee hasn’t stopped me from chasing my dream. Working in this field has actually built my confidence.

What distinguishes your bakery from other bakeries around town?

The quality of cakes, the extraordinary creations, innovative ideas and the exquisite taste. I personally put the effort to design each and every cake, from shape to the smallest element and detail.

We’ve heard your bakery is supporting October’s breast cancer awareness month. What will you be doing?

My grandma passed away due to breast cancer. I believe that every dirham from La Torta will be a great support to people in need.

La Torta Cakes and Sweets is located next to Al Mamoura building on Al Muroor road (02 441 2223).
