‘Abu Dhabi Week fund’ helps Dhaka burn victim

Money raised by the Abu Dhabi community at the end of last year to help impoverished children in a Bangladesh slum has been used to help a young child receive urgent medical treatment after she was accidentally burned with scalding water.

Fatema Akter, a student at the Choice to Change Foundation (C2C) in Dhaka was left with third degree burns across her thighs after the accident at her home. Her parents who earn just AED 320 a month were unable to afford the medical fees for her emergency treatment.

However, excess funds raised across the capital and donated to the foundation for the treatment of another youngster, four-year-old Asha Rhaman, who was burned in an accident last year, were used to pay for medical treatment for Fatema.

“It is a great feeling to know that the money was there to help Fatema,” said Choice 2 Change founder Eva Kernova.
