Mustafa Jundi is father to Tala, seven months, and Ahmed, two and a half

“I cannot describe how I felt when I picked up my baby for the first time. Words like ‘wonder’ and ‘amazement’ do not give the true meaning.

“I still remember my child’s small face and soft hands. I realised that my life before and after the arrival of my son was completely different.

“My days became more active and joyful and each day of our life is like a new event!

“My heart is full of joy with each new word my son says, and every step my daughter takes.

“They are my real fortune; I am doing all my efforts to offer them the best. I sincerely want to make them happy.”

Rhian Lobo is father to one-year-old Benjamin

“Fatherhood is amazing – I love it! Everyone who has children would say the same thing: “You can’t remember what life was like before you had kids” and “It’s a different world”. It’s all true – and it also helps having a good wife!

My advice for new fathers would be to sleep in the spare room (just kidding). Manage your time well and enjoy every moment and milestone because kids grow up so quickly.

Doug Ferguson is father to Holly, 15

“Fatherhood is the most important job a man can have. It means helping to guide a child through childhood safely with love and kindness, even when they cannot yet understand that these are the motivating forces.

“My advice to new fathers is to enjoy the ride while it lasts, because your child will grow up quicker than you can imagine and you will be left wondering where the time went!”

Sandy Regalado is father to two-year-old Sanie

“Since fatherhood I’ve become more mature and focused when it comes to my priorities as I now have to provide for my child and wife’s future. But you know that feeling when you’re tired after a long day? It instantly melts away the moment I see my child.

“If I have any advice for fathers-to-be, I would say be prepared for a change in lifestyle – but that’s a good thing. There’s a lot to be sacrificed because you’re responsible for someone else’s future. Enjoy every moment and minute with your family; it’s definitely worth it.”

Hein van der Wielen is from Holland. His son, Jude, is two years old

“Being a dad means 100 per cent commitment. You have to find a new balance in your life. Time is precious – and sleep even more so!

It also means that you’ve come closer to fullfilling your purpose in life; it’s simple biology.

“Remember during pregnancy, the wife is in charge.

“Don’t overdo the research; you will figure most things out on your own.”
